General Summary & Scope

The Beauty Advisor (BA) is responsible for providing an exceptional experience for all Ulta Beauty guests by engaging each guest to determine their individual needs, conducting cashier tasks, keeping fixtures stocked with merchandise, maintaining overall store cleanliness and completing tasks as assigned. The BA supports the leadership team through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards).

This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal

Duties & Responsibilities Performance
  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni‑channel sales, and retail shrink.
  • Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by greeting, engaging, personalizing, answering questions, informing about promotions, and recommending products or services.
  • Handle customer service, sales, refunds, exchanges, and support online orders courteously.
  • Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
  • Book appointments and support in‑store events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience while meeting sales goals.
  • Stay informed about new and existing products and services, including ingredients and benefits, to better serve guests.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
People
  • Contribute to an inclusive environment that supports teammates, peers, and guests.
  • Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
  • Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.
  • Participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education.
Process
  • Know and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhere to the dress code.
  • Drive sales by keeping the assigned work area replenished, signed, and faced, ensuring testers are available.
  • Maintain outstanding store standards and overall store cleanliness.
  • Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory, and processing/unloading shipments.
  • Protect company assets by following loss‑prevention best practices.
  • Execute other operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications Education
  • High school diploma is preferred.
Experience
  • 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Skills
  • Demonstrates a passion for guest service and competency for selling.
  • Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system and Apple devices).
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Ability to troubleshoot.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Special

Position Requirements
  • Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
  • Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift.
  • Frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and twisting.
  • Continuous and/or frequent lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 25 lbs.
  • Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
Pay & Benefits

Pay range: $16.94 – $21.50 per hour. Eligible associates may earn overtime pay as required by law. Full‑time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Part‑time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
