Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Waterbury, Connecticut.

• Hourly Pay: $25.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained (up to $700)
• Quarterly Bonus:
  Up to $500 every quarter
• Sign On Bonus: $1,250 after 30 days and $1,250 after 90 days
• Tool Box/Tool Allowance

  Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF

  First Shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or Technical Certification or Post-Secondary Degree (preference)
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work (required)
• Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire if not already possessed
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT Physical, Ryder Road Test, and background check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures and perform required repairs
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint when assigned a task
• Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required, including but not limited to Service Island support
