Job Summary

Dominion Energy is currently seeking an experienced engineer for the Electrical and I&C Systems department in Site Engineering at the Millstone Power Station in Waterford, CT. Positions will be filled at a level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The candidate will fill a position in the Electrical and I&C System Engineering Group. The primary area of focus will be electrical systems engineering in support of operating Millstone Units 2 & 3.

Specific Duties
  • Monitoring and trending of electrical system health.
  • Preparation of engineering technical evaluations.
  • Development of maintenance strategies and corrective action plans, and support of design change documentation.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

The candidate will work in a broad range of Electrical Power and I&C issues both on the component and system level. Candidates will be expected to have familiarity with nuclear power plant design, including the Electrical Distribution System and/or the Instrumentation and Control Systems at the station. A training program will be provided for the new candidate to obtain a required basic level of knowledge for understanding plant design basis, operations, maintenances, and work planning structure, including normal and emergency operating procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required experience levels:

  • Engineer: 2-5 years of experience.
  • Senior Engineer: 5-7 years of experience.
  • Staff Engineer: 8+ years of experience.
  • Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Engineering Technical Specialist III: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.

Note:

A partial year of work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the required years of experience. A Master’s degree will count as one year toward the years of experience.

Knowledge & application of engineering theories, principles, concepts, fundamentals; experience in a professional engineering position; competency in applying engineering principles and practices; knowledge of configuration management; ability to perform engineering calculations using software programs (e.g., Matlab, Excel); planning, organizational, and project management skills; leadership; effective decision making; communication skills; analytical problem solving; interpretation of codes, regulations; independent or team work; multitasking.

Engineering Criteria

For placement in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

  • Possess a 4‑year Engineering degree from an ABET‑accredited Engineering program, or from a U.S. institution recognized under the Washington Accord, or a 4‑year degree in related fields with a post‑graduate Engineering degree, or a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
Education Requirements

Required Degree:
Bachelor’s in Engineering, Electrical (or related) for Engineer title. Engineering Technical Specialists must have a BS degree in a technical field or additional relevant experience.

Licenses, Certifications, or Qualifications

Note:

Dominion Energy minimum experience and education requirements may exceed stated ANSI standards. Minimum experience required: related experience of at least 2 years;
Nuclear power plant experience of at least 1 year.
