The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is a licensed professional provider who functions in collaboration with an attending physician in a variety of practice settings vides exceptional direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care to the highest standards of the organization as part of a multidisciplinary team. Cultivates a patient centric environment which focuses on the whole individual inclusive of physical, psychosocial, spiritual and functional needs of the patient, family, and significant others.

Serves as the focal professional for the continuity of care in patient care within scope of practice standards, as well as specialty specific standards to address and resolve problems that may arise.

The Surgical Services APP role specializes in surgical services, providing diagnostic, therapeutic, and perioperative patient care in collaboration with surgeons. The position covers a range of surgical specialties including trauma, general surgery, bariatrics, colorectal, plastics, and surgical breast oncology, and involves both inpatient care and operating room assistance. The provider also educates patients, manages clinical documentation, participates in quality improvement, and supports professional development and interdisciplinary teamwork.

Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse ( APRN - must be Acute Care Board Certified) Surgical Services covering Trauma, Emergency General Surgery, Bariatrics, Colorectal, Plastics, Surgical Breast Oncology. Inpatient 13 hour rotating day and night shift includes covering the operating room, inpatient consults, trauma response, and inpatient care. Experience is preferred; we welcome new grads. We offer a robust training and onboarding program on our service.

• Mastery of Surgical Procedures: Proficient in assisting with a variety of techniques, from laparoscopic to minimally invasive surgeries, while ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
• Comprehensive Knowledge: Deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and advanced surgical instruments to support complex cases.
• Skilled in Pre- & Post-Operative Care: From preparation to recovery, General Surgery PAs manage patient care with precision and empathy.
• Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Capable of analyzing situations and making sound decisions in high-pressure surgical settings.
• Team Collaboration & Communication: Effective liaisons between surgeons, healthcare staff, and patients, ensuring seamless teamwork and patient education.

• Clinical Care:
  The Physician Assistant (PA) or the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team. The NP/PA, whether the practice setting is the inpatient, ambulatory, or outpatient settings, provides optimal patient care, from diagnostic to prognostic matters. This individual works in collaboration with the attending supervising/collaborating physician(s) in accordance with state law and hospital regulations, hospital policy, protocols and clinical pathways and may provide autonomous team based care.
  
  It may perform procedures, prescribe treatment and medications in accordance with institutional and state guidelines, as well as, when necessary for scope within specialty or professional competency standards. In some clinical specialties, the NP/PA may have autonomous practice managing certain patient populations.
