Greentree Manor is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals for our residents in accordance with planned menus and dietary requirements. This role requires culinary expertise, a commitment to food safety and sanitation standards, and the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare meals and snacks according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements.
- Ensure food is served on time, in proper portions, and at the correct temperature.
- Assist in food preparation for therapeutic diets, special events, and substitutions as needed.
- Administrative Duties
- Review menus and inspect trays to ensure dietary compliance.
- Complete required documentation and assist with menu planning and revisions.
- Supervise dietary aides and coordinate with other departments and the facility dietitian.
- Safety & Sanitation
- Follow all infection control and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the kitchen, equipment, and food storage areas.
- Report hazardous conditions, equipment issues, and accidents promptly.
- Team Collaboration
- Foster a positive working atmosphere with staff and residents.
- Participate in training, workshops, and in-service programs.
- Support the evacuation and emergency preparedness plans as needed.
- Education & Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have a current Serve Safe or Sanitation Certification.
- Experience
- Minimum of 1 year in a hospital, skilled nursing, or similar healthcare food service setting.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Skills & Requirements
- Ability to cook in large quantities and follow dietary guidelines.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, kitchen operations, and inventory management.
- Able to work weekends, holidays, and in emergency situations as needed.
- Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and meet physical demands of the role.
