You will welcome customers, help them locate and select products, occasionally load merchandise, and ensure all customer needs are met. Your daily responsibilities may vary by department (Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services).
Key Responsibilities- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional service.
- Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by observing shelf capacity and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately.
- Cross‑train in other areas to deliver comprehensive service.
- Prepare items in your department (e.g., tinting paint, cutting pipe, bundling wood).
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- 6 months experience using a computer (inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information).
- 6 months experience using common retail technology (smartphones, tablets).
- Reading, writing, and basic arithmetic skills.
- Ability to stand, sit, and perform job activities for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted, or more with accommodation.
- 6 months of retail or customer service experience.
- Bi‑lingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to a department (e.g., hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, lumber/building materials).
No regular travel; occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or to support neighboring stores.
Working ConditionsEnvironmental factors vary by location. Work may occur indoors or outdoors, in extreme heat or cold, wet, damp, humid, windy, or drafty conditions. Noise levels may be constant or intermittent. Lifting guidelines limit single lifts to 75 lbs; team lifts used for heavier loads. Powered equipment is used with proper training.
