Job Description SummaryThe Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining portable fire extinguishers. This remote role is vital in safeguarding lives and property.
Roles and Responsibilities- Customer Service:
Wait on any incoming portable fire extinguisher customers. - Inspection and Testing:
Conduct routine inspections and tests of portable fire extinguishers to ensure proper functioning. Identify and rectify any issues or malfunctions promptly. - Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and troubleshoot problems in all portable fire extinguishers brought into the shop. - Compliance:
Ensure all portable fire extinguishers comply with relevant fire codes, regulations, and safety standards. - Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and repairs. Generate reports as needed for clients, authorities, or internal use. - Customer Communication:
Communicate effectively with clients to explain the status of their portable fire extinguishers, address concerns, and provide recommendations for improvements.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in portable fire extinguishers is preferred.
- Relevant experience in inspecting and maintaining portable fire extinguishers.
- Knowledge of local fire codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Previous experience servicing and maintaining HVAC equipment/systems, small engine repair, firefighting equipment, work as a mechanic, electrician, or previous experience with hydraulics.
- Familiarity with portable fire extinguisher equipment is a plus, but we will train!
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to interact with clients professionally and effectively.
- Able to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
- Manual dexterity to work with small parts.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.
