Job Information- Job Title: Courtesy Clerk

- Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting care, concern and patience and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly manner, whether in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.
- Make an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible.
- Assist customers by (examples include):
- Escorting them to the products they’re looking for.
- Securing products that are out of reach.
- Loading or unloading heavy items.
- Noting and forwarding customer suggestions or requests.
- Performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to callers.
- Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Package purchases.
- Clean registers, restrooms, break room, backroom; sweep and mop the floor; and tend to supply needs.
- Assist customers in transporting purchases to their mode of transportation.
- Help train new courtesy clerks.
- Check prices on products.
- Pull products forward on shelves.
- Bring carts in from parking lot and cart corral.
- Clean can redemption area and empty recycle bins where applicable.
- Stock, face, rotate merchandise, clean shelves, understand shelf tags and locate merchandise in the store and backroom.
- Maintain supplies on front‑end (e.g., paper/plastic sacks, receipt paper).
- Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
- Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist in all departments as requested (within wage and hour guidelines).
- Deliver product to customers (within wage and hour guidelines).
- Shovel, salt, and sand walkways.
- Assist in other areas of the store as needed.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
- Ability to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or verbal instructions; handle few concrete variables.
- Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction; copy figures, count and record.
- Understanding and following verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information, request supplies orally or in writing, increased contact with people.
- Physical Requirements:
- Exert up to 50 pounds occasionally; up to 20 pounds frequently; up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
- Perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Working Conditions: Exposed to noise, temperature extremes, dampness, dirt, and chemicals/solvents.
- Equipment Used to Perform Job: Tomra (bottle machines), window washing equipment, vacuum cleaner, power washer, brooms, delivery vehicle, phone, fax, copier, two‑wheeler, pallet jack, box cutter (within wage and hour guidelines).
