Shift:
12-hour night shifts | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Weekends, holidays, and on-call required
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive nursing care to progressive care/step-down patients
Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
Administer medications, IV therapy, and IV contrast per provider orders
Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias and clinical emergencies
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
Educate patients and families regarding conditions, treatments, and discharge planning
Maintain patient safety, including proper use of lifting and mobility equipment
Demonstrate leadership skills, prioritize patient care, and delegate tasks appropriately
May assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Active New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum of 1 successful prior travel assignment (first-time travelers not accepted)
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in high-stress clinical environments
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Eligible for rehire if previously employed by Samaritan (minimum 2-year separation required)
Current Certifications:
BLS (AHA)
ACLS (AHA)
IV and IV Contrast Certification
Basic Lethal Dysrhythmia (within 6 months of employment)
NIHSS (within first 6 months of employment)
Preferred Qualifications:
Current critical care or PCU experience
PALS certification
Coronary Care Course or successful completion of challenge exam during orientation
Distance Requirement:
100-mile radius rule (local candidates within 100 miles not eligible)
