Job Title:
Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location:
Watertown, New York, 13601

Duration:
13-week contract

Shift:
12-hour night shifts | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Weekends, holidays, and on-call required

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to progressive care/step-down patients

• Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment

• Administer medications, IV therapy, and IV contrast per provider orders

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias and clinical emergencies

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans

• Educate patients and families regarding conditions, treatments, and discharge planning

• Maintain patient safety, including proper use of lifting and mobility equipment

• Demonstrate leadership skills, prioritize patient care, and delegate tasks appropriately

• May assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing

• Active New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse (RN) license

• Minimum of 1 successful prior travel assignment (first-time travelers not accepted)

• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work effectively in high-stress clinical environments

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

• Eligible for rehire if previously employed by Samaritan (minimum 2-year separation required)

Current Certifications:

• BLS (AHA)

• ACLS (AHA)

• IV and IV Contrast Certification

• Basic Lethal Dysrhythmia (within 6 months of employment)

• NIHSS (within first 6 months of employment)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current critical care or PCU experience

• PALS certification

• Coronary Care Course or successful completion of challenge exam during orientation

Distance Requirement:
100-mile radius rule (local candidates within 100 miles not eligible)
