SummaryCHS Herman in Watertown, SD is looking for a Seasonal Truck Driver to join our team. This individual will be responsible for hauling fertilizer and chemical to local farmers, ranchers, and other CHS locations. The ideal candidate will have a Class A CDL with hazmat/tanker endorsements or be willing to obtain them. We offer flexible scheduling with additional hours during our spring and fall busy seasons.
Responsibilities- Ensure accurate and timely pick up/deliveries to our customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner. Assist with loading or unloading, as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service. Treat customers professionally; greet them promptly and courteously. Promptly handle all customer concerns and elevate to leadership if required.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including pre‑trip and post‑trip reporting, proper load securement, and hours of service.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicle(s) inside and out, and keep the work environment clean.
- Complete and document daily maintenance inspections. Ensure proper equipment maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance are completed.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, training, personal protective equipment procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Report all incidents (bodily or property), accidents, and traffic violations to the supervisor immediately.
- Enroll in and complete the mandatory CHS random drug and alcohol testing program and the Continuous Monitoring Program.
- Assist operational staff and perform other duties as needed or assigned, including intercompany related driving.
- Class A CDL
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and understand highway traffic signs and signals.
- Maintain a CDL and DOT medical card.
- Ability to work additional hours and occasional weekends to meet business demands.
- Valid Class A CDL preferred.
- Hazmat, tanker, air brake endorsements preferred.
- Agriculture background preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Bulk liquid, pressure trailer, or forklift experience preferred.
- Pre‑employment screening may be required and will include drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements, and FMCSA Clearinghouse.

Actual pay offered will vary based on factors such as experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, and local wage/salary requirements.
