Watertown Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for our new Senior Behavioral Health Unit.
$7,500 sign on bonus!
The shift is 7:00am to 7:00pm 2 - 12 hour shifts per week
Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Unit is a 15-bed inpatient psychiatric unit that specializes in treating elderly patients with mental illness. Diagnoses include depression, anxiety, suicide attempts, bipolar and schizophrenia. You will work directly with a hands-on care team that includes registered nurses and mental health technicians, and the extended care team includes a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, social worker, and recreational therapist.
Essential Functions
- The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse provides individualized psychiatric nursing care in a professional, competent, efficient, safe, compassionate, and caring manner
- The RN assesses the patients’ needs, plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of patient care
- This position carries out these responsibilities independently with the guidance of accepted nursing and department practice as well as directed by medical staff. This position provides the knowledge and skills to meet physician, patient, staff, and/or WRMC needs and performs in accordance with WRMC standards and policies
- The Registered Nurse directs the nursing care activities of paraprofessionals or other nursing team members and provides nursing leadership
- The RN is responsible for assuring patient safety at all times and facilitates effective communication with patients, support personnel and member of the healthcare team. This position provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice

Qualifications
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or Compact State RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within time frame specified in facility policy
- Handle With Care (HWC) or CPI certification required within time frame specified in facility policy
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Six months of RN experience in a direct patient care setting preferred
- Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric nursing strongly preferred
