Job Overview

We seek a person with a demonstrated ability to teach language courses at all levels, from beginning Spanish to intermediate composition and conversation courses. This position helps to support a dynamic and robust language curriculum that leans on the pedagogical skills and research expertise of our departmental faculty. Candidates must have completed a PhD in literary or cultural studies or a closely related field by August 2026.

The position requires teaching four courses per year, maintaining an ongoing research program, and contributing to the intellectual life of the college.

Responsibilities
  • Teach four Spanish courses per academic year, spanning all levels.
  • Design and deliver engaging language instruction, including composition and conversation.
  • Carry out a sustained program of research aligned with the department’s missions.
  • Participate actively in the intellectual life of the college through faculty meetings, seminars, and committees.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in literary or cultural studies, or a closely related field, completed by August 2026.
  • Clear record of teaching Spanish at multiple levels with demonstrated pedagogical effectiveness.
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching and a willingness to promote access and opportunity for all campus community members.
