Overview
Assistant Professor of Biology – Immunology (tenure-track) at Colby College, Waterville, ME. The Department of Biology is seeking an immunologist to fill an open tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026.
Responsibilities- Teach 4.5 courses per year, including Laboratory components and discussion-based seminars.
- Courses include BI225 Immunology (with lab), BI325 Advanced Immunology (no lab), an additional course in the applicant’s area of expertise, and a rotation in BI163 The Cellular Basis of Life.
- Establish an active undergraduate research program with supervision and mentoring of undergraduates.
- Collaborate with colleagues; potential interfaces with physiology, cell biology, molecular/structural biology, neurobiology, endocrinology, or reproductive biology.
- Contribute to the access, opportunity, and excellence of the campus community through teaching, research, and mentorship.
- Engage with possible collaborations via affiliations with the Jackson Laboratory, Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory, and Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences.
- Ph.D. in biological sciences with emphasis in molecular, cellular or developmental biology, genetics, or biochemistry.
- Demonstrated expertise in immunology with a research program addressing questions of fundamental immunology or biomedical applications.
- Commitment to undergraduate education; teaching experience is desirable.

- Submit a research interests and plans statement for an undergraduate-only institution (max 3 pages).
- Submit a teaching philosophy, teaching experience, and inclusive pedagogy statement (max 3 pages).
- Submit via Interfolio: Optional paragraph in the cover letter about how the COVID-19 pandemic affected career trajectory (may exceed 2 pages).
