Waterville Public Schools is excited to invite an enthusiastic and student-centered educator to join our dynamic team as a Grade 8 Social Studies Teacher at Waterville Junior High School.

- Teach social studies to Grade 8 students
- Foster inquiry-based learning through hands‑on activities, discussions, and real‑world connections.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including multilingual students and those with IEPs or 504 plans
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan, assess, and reflect on instruction.
- Maintain regular communication with families and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe and valued
- Valid Maine Department of Education certification (Elementary Teacher, 020 or appropriate endorsement for middle-level social studies)
- Strong knowledge of social studies content and instructional best practices for middle school learners
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Willingness to collaborate with grade-level and content-area teams
- A passion for working with early adolescents in a supportive and inclusive school culture
