Position: Visiting Assistant Professor (one-year, 2026–27 academic year)
Description:
Colby College’s Department of Science, Technology, and Society invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor. The department seeks candidates with excellence in teaching and scholarship in STS. The teaching load includes:
- Introduction to STS
- STS Methods
- Advanced Topics in STS (senior seminar)
- One upper-level elective fulfilling the "Technoscience, Ethics, Justice" requirement
Colby values active learning and inclusive teaching
. The department encourages interdisciplinary engagement and offers collaboration opportunities with multiple campus centers, including AI, public policy, entrepreneurship, and human rights programs.
Qualifications:
- PhD expected by September 1, 2027
- Ability to teach and research in STS with a critical, multidisciplinary perspective on science and technology
- Engagement with Colby’s initiatives in AI, data science, engineering, public health, and liberal arts
