We’re a nonprofit with 126+ years of history and a $2M annual budget, providing critical support to children and families across our region. This role plays a key part in securing significant gifts that align donor philanthropic passions and potential with Maine Children’s Home’s mission and long-term sustainability. Reportingto the Director of Advancement & Philanthropy, you will:
- Manage a strategic, dynamic relationship portfolio of 125-150 prospects and donors capable of giving $10,000+ in a year or $25,000+ over three years
- This includes creating and implementing personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for each relationship and gift, and meeting relationship goals
- Listen well, cultivate relationships and gift opportunities, and, at the right time, solicit mutually-beneficial major gifts that align donor priorities and timing with Maine Children’s Home’s mission and funding needs
- Collaborate with Advancement Services on donor research, identification, and qualification of the prospect pipeline
- Develop tailored proposals and impact reports for prospects and donors
- Partner with the Director of Advancement & Philanthropy and Executive Director on major donor strategy and funding opportunities
- Craft personalized outreach for your portfolio of relationships and collaborate with the Director of Communications & Marketing on storytelling that inspires giving
- Collaborate with the Director of Advancement and program staff to align donor interests with priorities
- Support donor engagement events and site visits
- Track your donor/prospect interactions and progress toward goals in our CRM and contribute to data-informed planning
- 3+ years of relational fundraising or relational sales experience; managing major gift relationships and securing major gifts is strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and a warm, genuine approach to relationship building
- Excellent attention to detail and written and verbal communication in the English language, including spelling and grammar
- Comfort with CRMs, computer technology, and development metrics
- Ability to work with initiative independently and with a small, collaborative team
- A deep belief in our mission and shared values
- A reliable means of transportation for independent travel for donor visits
Location: Waterville, Maine (hybrid, with travel within and outside Maine)
Position: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary: $55,000-$70,000 (dependent on experience), plus generous time off
Anticipated Start: March 1 (flexible for the right candidate)
