This role is based at Hemel General Hospital and involves acting as the central point for managing and scheduling Haematology new appointments and general administrative duties. The successful candidate will handle telephone enquiries from GPs, patients and staff, communicate highly sensitive information to patients and consultants, and ensure efficient and effective administration for Haematology appointments and general clinic operations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and schedule Haematology new appointments.
  • Handle telephone enquiries from GPs, patients and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner.
  • Communicate highly sensitive information to patients and consultants.
  • Ensure efficient and effective administration for Haematology appointments and general clinic.
  • Cancel and amend clinic lists following instruction from clinicians, clinical nurse specialist and managers.
  • Work alongside the bookings administrator.
Essential Qualifications
  • Good level of education (e.g GCSE level or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of NHS guidelines and systems.
  • Good understanding of the administrative functioning of the office.
  • Knowledge of national cancer targets.
  • Knowledge of Cerner.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of full range of administrative and organisational policies and procedures associated with this role.
  • Customer care experience.
  • Previous experience of working in a health care setting.
  • Experience working in a busy or fast‑paced environment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of speciality.
  • Knowledge of managing referral systems such as ERS.
  • Experience of working in a team.
  • Experience of working unsupervised.
