We are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS) for a growing construction and groundworks business, offering a £70,000–£80,000 salary + bonus scheme and car allowance. This is a high‑impact role for an experienced commercial professional looking to take ownership of project profitability and commercial performance.
Job descriptionAs a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for the financial and commercial management of multiple construction projects, ensuring profitability, cost control, and contract compliance across the full project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities- Act as the commercial lead across multiple projects
- Manage project profitability, cost control and financial performance
- Oversee applications for payment (AFP), valuations, and variations
- Maintain variation trackers and ensure all entitlements are captured
- Produce monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reports
- Manage retentions, payments and commercial deadlines
- Lead subcontractor procurement and contract management
- Ensure contracts (NEC / JCT) are administered effectively
- Attend client meetings and site visits
- Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders
- Support and develop junior commercial staff
- Report weekly to senior leadership and finance teams
- £70,000 – £80,000 salary
- EBITDA share / bonus scheme
- Car allowance (TBC)

- 07:30 – 16:30 (roughly)
- 40 hours per week (flexibility required based on project needs)
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager
- Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
- Background in construction / groundworks (essential)
- Experience managing project finances, CVRs and variations
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to build strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Full UK driving licence
