Quantity Surveyor

We are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS) for a growing construction and groundworks business, offering a £70,000–£80,000 salary + bonus scheme and car allowance. This is a high‑impact role for an experienced commercial professional looking to take ownership of project profitability and commercial performance.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for the financial and commercial management of multiple construction projects, ensuring profitability, cost control, and contract compliance across the full project lifecycle.

• Act as the commercial lead across multiple projects
• Manage project profitability, cost control and financial performance
• Oversee applications for payment (AFP), valuations, and variations
• Maintain variation trackers and ensure all entitlements are captured
• Produce monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reports
• Manage retentions, payments and commercial deadlines
• Lead subcontractor procurement and contract management
• Ensure contracts (NEC / JCT) are administered effectively
• Attend client meetings and site visits
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders
• Support and develop junior commercial staff
• Report weekly to senior leadership and finance teams

• £70,000 – £80,000 salary

• Monday to Friday
• 07:30 – 16:30 (roughly)
• 40 hours per week (flexibility required based on project needs)

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager
• Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
• Background in construction / groundworks (essential)
• Experience managing project finances, CVRs and variations
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Ability to build strong client and stakeholder relationships
• Full UK driving licence
