Job description
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for the financial and commercial management of multiple construction projects, ensuring profitability, cost control, and contract compliance across the full project lifecycle.
This is a senior-level construction QS role with a strong focus on contract management, cost reporting, and stakeholder engagement, working closely with Project Managers, Finance, and Directors.
Key responsibilities include:
* Acting as the commercial lead across multiple projects
* Managing project profitability, cost control, and financial performance
* Overseeing applications for payment (AFP), valuations, and variations
* Maintaining variation trackers and ensuring all entitlements are captured
* Producing monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reports
* Managing retentions, payments, and commercial deadlines
* Leading subcontractor procurement and contract management
* Ensuring contracts (NEC / JCT) are administered effectively
* Attending client meetings and site visits
* Building strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders
* Supporting and developing junior commercial staff
* Reporting weekly to senior leadership and finance teams
Pay & Benefits:
* £95,000 – £110,000 salary

Working Hours:
* Monday to Friday
* 07:30 – 16:30 (roughly)
* 40 hours per week (flexibility required based on project needs)
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager
* Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
* Background in construction / groundworks (essential)
* RICS Accredited
* Experience managing project finances, CVRs, and variations
* Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
* Ability to build strong client and stakeholder relationships
* Full UK driving licence
