Job overviewThe Specialty Doctors will be expected to exercise an intermediate level of clinical responsibility but ultimate responsibility for the patients theytreatwillrestwith therelevantconsultant.
Atleastonesessionperweekwillbe under consultant supervision.
The core hours are 08:00 to 18:00 and on call shifts are 08:00 to 20:30 and 20:00 to 08:30. The rota is currently 1:8 and includes normal days, long days and nights. Full details will be discussed at interview.
Main duties of the jobResponsibility will be to the College Tutor and the Clinical Director. The post holder will form one member of a full shift rota which may be in theatres, ICU or obstetrics.
In addition to daytime ICU shifts, work allocated may vary according to requirements and may include daytime PAs in main theatre, day surgery and obstetrics according to experience.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesAll Clinical Fellows in Critical Careand Anaesthesiahaveacontinuingresponsibilityforthe proper functioning ofthe
Department. As far asispractical,theappointeewill be expected to provide emergency cover for colleagues when required.
Teaching, Audit and Clinical Governance half-days are multidisciplinary and will incorporate differentareasof
CG,including joint
M&Mmeetings, clinical audit,complaintreviewandcritical incident reporting.
All Specialty doctors are required to be involved in a clinical audit project.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification FRCA Part I Anaesthesia or equivalent
- Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists Member of Intensive Care Society EDIC/EDAIC
- Core Level Training certificate (CLTC) or equivalent
- Sufficient years in anaesthesia and critical care
- Previous experience in critical care and transfer medicine
