Specialty Doctor MC- Anaesthetics and Critical Care

The Specialty Doctors will be expected to exercise an intermediate level of clinical responsibility but ultimate responsibility for the patients they treat will rest with the relevant consultant. At least one session per week will be under consultant supervision., Responsibility will be to the Consultant Lead for Specialty Doctors and the Clinical Director. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to review the job plan with the Clinical Director or representative at least once a year.

The post holder will form one member of a full shift rota which may be in theatres, ICU or obstetrics. In addition to daytime ICU shifts, work allocated may vary according to requirements and may include daytime PAs in main theatre, day surgery and obstetrics according to experience.

With a new hospital planned for Watford, work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital and plans for a neighbourhood healthcare centre in Hemel Hempstead, this is an exciting time to join us.

This is a 10 PAs post with up to 12 PAs negotiable. The core hours are 08:00 to 18:00 and on call shifts are 08:00 to 20:30 and 20:00 to 08:30. The rota is currently 1:8 and includes normal days, long days and nights. Full details will be discussed at interview.
