Position: Trust Resident Doctor ST5+ Level (MN37), Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Job Summary

Our department is seeking a well‑motivated resident doctor to gain both clinical and surgical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within a teaching hospital setting. This post supports the candidate to gain experience in the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology core curriculum. An education supervisor is provided and post holders are encouraged to engage with the eportfolio to document training competencies.

The day‑to‑day clinical responsibilities will form the significant part of the training offered. All doctors are expected to undertake audit and contribute to the weekly departmental academic teaching programme. Departmental training will include PROMPT, CTG study day and MED
2.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will participate in the on‑call rota, providing cover for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology in a three‑tier system. Regular clinical sessions include antenatal clinic, gynaecology clinic, maternity triage, maternity day assessment unit and theatre sessions. Applicants must have completed MRCOG Part 3 and be registered with the GMC. The post holder will work under both direct and indirect supervision of consultants.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are essential, together with compassion for patients and strong time‑management and organisational skills.

Person Specification Essential
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
  • MRCOG Part 3

  • Evidence of essential skills and experiences in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the role
  • Physiological CTG interpretation
Desirable
