Are you an inspiring and forward-thinking Science educator looking to take the next step in your career? We are working with a highly regarded secondary school in Watford seeking either a Head of Science or an ambitious Second in Charge of Science to join their successful department from September 2026.

The Role

The school is open to appointing at two levels, depending on the experience and aspirations of the candidate:

Head of Science

* Lead a thriving Science faculty across KS3–KS5

* Drive curriculum development, teaching standards, and student outcomes

* Support and mentor a talented team of specialists

* Play a key strategic role in whole-school improvement

Second in Charge of Science

* Support the Head of Science with departmental leadership

* Contribute to curriculum planning and quality of teaching

* Lead a specific key stage or subject area within the department

* Provide coaching and support to colleagues

Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential

* Previous teaching experience within a secondary school setting

* Strong subject knowledge across the Science curriculum

* Leadership experience (for Head of Science) or emerging leadership skills (for Second in Charge)

* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students

* Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references
