Year 1 Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant / Learning Support Practitioner Pastoral Focus (Thrive Approach)

Watford, Hertfordshire

Start Date:

1st September 2026

Contract:

Fixed Term until July 2027 (initially)

Hours:

27.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday, 9:15am - 3:15pm (30-minute unpaid lunch)
Salary: H3.5 (£25,989 FTE)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and dedicated Year 1 Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Learning Support Practitioner to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Watford, Hertfordshire from September 2026. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored learning and emotional support for pupils in Year 1
  • Deliver small group and 1:1 pastoral interventions using the Thrive approach
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider support team to meet individual pupil needs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Previous experience supporting children in Early Years or Key Stage 1
  • A genuine passion for child development and emotional well‑being
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to train in, the Thrive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
