Head of Music

About this Role

The Head of Music is responsible for leading and inspiring a love of their subject and developing and delivering lessons to enable our pupils to achieve academic excellence.

The post holder will provide strong subject leadership, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning across all key stages, and will play a central role in promoting the importance of music within the wider life of the school.

The successful candidate will combine excellent classroom practice with the ability to contribute to pupils' understanding and appreciation of music, including through delivery of enrichment opportunities such as concerts, participation in choirs and orchestras, and a variety of co‑curricular activities.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
