This Aspiring Maths Teacher Program (Unsalaried PGCE) offers a structured and supportive pathway into teaching, particularly suited to individuals who are new to the classroom or prefer a gradual transition into the profession.
Key points about the scheme- Gradual transition into teaching responsibilities
- Consistent support from a qualified teacher within lessons
- Lower initial teaching load, typically around 8 periods per week
- One dedicated training day per week
- Teaching load increases progressively based on individual readiness
- Opportunity to gain QTS with PGCE (optional opt-out available if required)
- Working at one School throughout – avoiding any conflict in different teaching styles (in turn reducing stress on teacher)
- Trainees are required to pay a course fee of £9,535 however as a trainee you are also eligible for tax‑free government bursaries depending on the subject you are training in.
- Bursary amount for Maths is £29,000.
- Bursaries are typically paid monthly.
