Supply Desk is working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school in Watford that is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Geography Teacher to join their Humanities department. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is passionate about helping students develop a deeper understanding of the world, its environments, populations, and global challenges.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that encourage students to think critically about local, national, and international issues. The school welcomes applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers who are eager to contribute to a collaborative and supportive learning community.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and deliver high-quality Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential opportunities to teach Key Stage 5
- Encourage students to explore physical and human geography through engaging, interactive, and relevant learning experiences
- Differentiate teaching strategies to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and learning styles
- Monitor and assess student progress, implementing interventions where necessary to support achievement
- Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and academic success
- Support students in developing analytical, research, and geographical enquiry skills
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Humanities department to enhance curriculum delivery and share best practice
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance, and student engagement
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- A degree in Geography or a closely related discipline
- Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Geography education
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- The ability to motivate and engage students of all abilities
- A commitment to raising attainment and supporting student wellbeing
