Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in Bushey that is seeking a dedicated and inspiring History Teacher to join its team. The school is looking for an educator who can bring historical events, people, cultures, and societies to life, while helping students develop their critical thinking, evaluation, and analytical abilities.
This is an excellent opportunity to teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 for the right candidate. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher, you will become part of a school community that encourages collaboration, creativity, and continued professional development.
What You'll Be Doing- Deliver engaging and challenging History lessons that encourage curiosity and develop a genuine interest in the subject.
- Use a range of effective teaching methods to meet the needs of students with different abilities and learning styles.
- Monitor student progress and achievement, implementing appropriate strategies to support and maximise attainment.
- Establish a positive classroom environment where students feel supported, motivated, and confident sharing their ideas and opinions.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Humanities department, sharing best practice and contributing to the wider success of the department.
- Prepare students effectively for examinations while developing their research, evaluation, interpretation, and analytical skills.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort, attendance, and participation throughout all lessons.
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Has a degree in History or a related subject area.
- Demonstrates strong subject and curriculum knowledge alongside a genuine passion for History.
- Can develop positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Has the ability to inspire students and make History accessible, relevant, and engaging.
- Is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
