About the Role:Supply Desk are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive primary school team in Watford. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or early years professional who is passionate about supporting young children with their learning, development, and wellbeing.
You will play an important role in supporting the Reception class teacher and helping to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment where children can build confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and age-appropriate learning activities for Reception-aged children
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help children develop academically, socially, and emotionally
- Support children’s development across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and social skills
- Build strong and positive relationships with pupils, teachers, parents, and colleagues
- Assist with observations and assessments of children’s learning and development
- Adapt activities and provide additional support to meet individual children’s needs
- Help create a safe, stimulating, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment
- Support children with daily routines, including mealtimes, personal care, and transitions throughout the school day
- Ensure safeguarding and health & safety policies are followed at all times
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils’ progress and wellbeing
- Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, or early years setting (Desirable)
- Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework and Reception curriculum
- A relevant Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Early Years, or equivalent qualification (Desirable)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A positive, patient, caring, and proactive attitude
- Ability to build positive relationships with young children
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
