Develop your SEND leadership experience as an Assistant SENCO at a secondary school in Watford. Working alongside the SENCO, you will strengthen inclusive teaching and help students with SEND access the curriculum confidently.
You will identify needs, coordinate interventions and monitor their impact, working closely with teachers, families and external professionals. Your responsibilities will include contributing to Education, Health and Care Plan reviews, maintaining clear documentation and helping colleagues adapt classroom support.
With a supportive ethos and experienced leadership team, the school offers an opportunity to contribute to consistent SEND provision while developing your skills as an Assistant SENCO.
Requirements- Qualified Teacher Status, or a recognised teaching qualification with eligibility to teach in England.
- Experience supporting secondary students with SEND.
- Working knowledge of SEND provision and the graduated approach to support.
- Experience collaborating with teachers, families or external professionals.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and contribute to statutory SEND documentation.
- Willingness to complete safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
- Support the SENCO in planning, delivering and reviewing SEND provision.
- Help teachers identify needs and adapt classroom support.
- Coordinate interventions and monitor student progress.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan reviews and related documentation.
- Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals.
- Share practical SEND guidance with staff across the school.
You will bring a thoughtful, student-centred approach, building positive relationships with students, colleagues and families. Clear communication, sound judgement and strong organisational skills will help you prioritise support and review its impact. Attention to detail and enthusiasm for developing as an Assistant SENCO are essential.
