The successful candidate will work alongside pastoral leaders, teachers and support staff to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and ensure they receive appropriate guidance throughout their time at school.

The Role

The Pastoral Support Officer will provide day-to-day support to pupils across the school, helping promote positive relationships, attendance, behaviour and engagement.

The role will involve working with pupils who require additional pastoral guidance, maintaining regular communication with relevant staff and supporting individual pupils with issues affecting their education. The successful candidate will build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Responsibilities will include monitoring pupil concerns, recording relevant information, supporting pastoral interventions and communicating with parents and carers when required. The Pastoral Support Officer may also assist with attendance follow-up, behaviour support and reintegration following periods of absence.

The successful candidate will work closely with Heads of Year, pastoral leaders and teaching staff to identify pupils who may need additional support. They will contribute to meetings, provide updates on pupil progress and help implement agreed support strategies.

The successful applicant should be patient, approachable and confident when dealing with challenging situations. They should also understand the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and accurate record keeping.

Good organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams are important. Experience supporting attendance, behaviour or wellbeing would be advantageous.

What the School Offers

The school offers a full-time, permanent opportunity for someone who wants to make a positive contribution to pupils' education and wellbeing. The successful candidate will join a supportive pastoral team and have the opportunity to develop their experience within a secondary school environment.
