Job Description & How to Apply Below

Do you want a job where you can make a difference every day?

Would you like to support someone to make the most of their life?

If the answer is Yes, come and work for
Watford Mencap
.

We are recruiting
Support Workers
to join our
Community Activities for Children & Adults service based in Central Watford, working with young adults and children with a learning disability.

It's no ordinary job and every day can be different. Most importantly it's about offering opportunities for children and young people to experience things that many of us take for granted.

You will act as a role model for less experienced staff, organising sessions and ensuring those attending have an enjoyable time, with a clear emphasis on a person-centred approach to promote clients’ independence, decision making and choice.

The job is very varied and will involve 1:1 support including personal care, planning and delivering experiences for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, planning and cooking meals, assessing new clients and updating support plans. This means a flexible “can do” attitude, good IT skills, alongside an eye for detail, emotional resilience and being able to juggle a broad and diverse workload are all really important in this role.

In return you will find this an extremely rewarding role where you will be making a real difference to young peoples’ lives on a daily basis.

The service offers a wide range of services including:

  • Day opportunities for young people age 18 – 25 years with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.

The service is registered on the Early Years Register.

Being a driver is an advantage as that can help people with limited mobility to be able to get out and about. Previous experience is advantageous but not essential, it is much more important that you share our values and can demonstrate this. You will receive appropriate training to develop skills and increase knowledge.

Please find here the job description and person specification.  for details of our benefits.

Part-time @ 22.5 hours per week (mondays & Thursdays) or full time @ 37.5 hours per week
