The Opportunity
Your World is currently recruiting for an experienced Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join the Cancer Services Pharmacy Team at Watford General Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Pharmacy Technician with a strong background in NHS Aseptic Services to support the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care for Haematology and Oncology patients.
Working within a specialist multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the preparation, quality assurance, and supply of chemotherapy treatments, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist pharmacy support to Haematology and Oncology services.
- Assist in the delivery of safe, effective, and cost-efficient pharmaceutical care to cancer patients.
- Prepare and dispense aseptic and chemotherapy products in accordance with GMP standards and Trust procedures.
- Work within the aseptic unit, ensuring full compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) requirements and pharmaceutical quality systems.
- Support pharmaceutical audit, validation activities, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate patient and dispensing records using electronic pharmacy systems.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding patient care.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with a valid GPhC registration.
- Previous NHS Aseptics experience is essential.
- Experience supporting Oncology or Haematology pharmacy services.
- Working knowledge of EMIS (Ascribe) Pharmacy System.
- Experience using BD Cato Chemo Care or another chemotherapy prescribing system.
- Specialist understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Quality Assurance (QA) within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Quality Systems.
- Experience of pharmaceutical audit and validation processes.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
