About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to support a service user with Profound Learning Disabilities and complex clinical needs in a home setting in the Watford area. This is a fulfilling and dynamic role offering the opportunity to learn new skills and build a meaningful care relationship.

Our service user has an array of clinical needs ranging from Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy to a Tracheostomy, Ventilation, and a Catheter. The individual is bed-bound and non-weight bearing, meaning the role requires high levels of manual handling to prevent pressure sores. You will be fully supported and assisted alongside a care assistant at all times.

We are looking for someone who is encouraging, patient, empathetic, and resilient, who wants a long-term career where they can truly make a difference to our service user's quality of life.

Key responsibilities may include:
  • Tracheostomy care and Suctioning
  • Ventilation management via NIPPY machine during nighttime routines
  • Catheter care
  • Seizure monitoring and clinical support for Epilepsy and Cerebral Palsy
  • High-level personal and pressure area care (with 2:1 assistance)
  • Supporting daily/nightly routines, emotional wellbeing, and close vital observations

You'll receive full comprehensive training and undertake shadow shifts to ensure you feel confident and well prepared for these clinical tasks.

Key Requirements
  • Minimum 6 months of professional care experience
  • Right to work in the UK with the correct documentation
  • Full enhanced DBS (or willingness to register one with Sugarman Health and Wellbeing)
  • Up-to-date CV with full working history
