Position: Logistics & Warehouse Manager
I’m working with a growing business in Watford that is looking to appoint a Logistics & Warehouse Manager as part of a major UK rollout.

This is quite a unique opportunity and probably best suited to somebody who enjoys building things rather than simply stepping into an established operation.

The business is importing a significant volume of specialist equipment into the UK and, over the next 12 months in particular, there is going to be a real focus on coordinating those imports, managing the onward movement of equipment and helping establish the warehouse and logistics network needed to support the rollout.

Although warehousing experience is important, the logistics side is probably the bigger part of the role initially.

You’ll be responsible for helping coordinate:

* Import and arrival of equipment into the UK

* Movement and distribution of equipment across multiple locations

* Planning the logistics around a large-scale UK rollout

* Setting up and supporting new warehouse locations

* Working with third-party logistics and transport providers

* Stock movements, storage and inventory control

* Creating practical processes and systems as the operation develops

* Managing warehouse operations and teams as the network grows

* Identifying problems quickly and finding sensible, workable solutions

This won’t be a highly structured environment from day one. A lot is still being built, so they need somebody comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity, putting processes in place and getting involved wherever needed.

The role is based in Watford, although candidates need to be genuinely comfortable travelling.

For approximately the first 12 months, this is likely to involve one or two days a week in the Midlands, potentially more at certain points, alongside some wider national travel as new warehouse locations are established. Travel over one hour would form part of paid working time.

What I’m looking for

Ideally somebody with a strong mix of logistics and warehousing experience, but with particularly good exposure to the logistics side.

You might have worked across areas such as:

* Logistics or distribution management

* Import / inbound logistics

* Transport and delivery coordination

* Multi-site operations

* Warehouse start-ups or relocations

* 3PL management

* Stock and inventory management

* Operational improvement and process implementation

Just as importantly, they want somebody practical, adaptable and comfortable rolling their sleeves up.

This is probably less suited to somebody coming from a very large, heavily structured environment who is used to having established systems and departments around them.

For the right person, it’s a chance to join at a really interesting stage, help shape the operation from the ground up and have a genuine influence over how the UK logistics network develops.

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000

Location:

Watford, with regular Midlands and UK travel
