Part time working 7 on 14 off, 25.6 average weekly hours. Annual leave, bank holidays and CPD days paid into an annualised compensation package on top of salary.

As an night RVN you will assist the Veterinary Surgeon with managing and supporting inpatients overnight, triaging emergency phone calls and consultations, and assisting with emergency surgeries overnight while delivering exceptional care to clients and patients, while maintaining the highest levels of regulatory and operational standards and compliance.

You will work alongside a Veterinary Surgeon and another RVN, with support from on call colleagues when required.

Medivet Watford 24 is a busy, well‑equipped 24‑hour veterinary hospital providing exceptional emergency, critical care, and inpatient services to our clients and patients. Our dedicated team is committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care around the clock, supported by modern equipment including X‑ray, dental X‑ray, CT, ultrasound, scopes, and ventilator.

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our experienced night team. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse who enjoys emergency and critical care nursing and thrives in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Working 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding overnight patient care, supporting emergency consultations, and ensuring the smooth running of the hospital during out‑of‑hours periods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high standards of inpatient nursing care to medical, surgical, and critical care patients.
  • Monitor and manage hospitalized patients throughout the night, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition.
  • Assist veterinary surgeons with emergency consultations, diagnostics, and procedures.
  • Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and patient handovers.
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene, infection control, and patient welfare.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, providing compassionate support during emergency situations.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.
About You
  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS registered).
  • Previous experience in emergency, referral, or hospital practice is desirable but not essential.
  • Confident in inpatient care, anesthesia, and emergency nursing.
  • Calm, organized, and able to work independently overnight.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional patient and client care.
