Are you an experienced Children’s Social Worker looking for a new locum opportunity within a supportive and friendly Family Support Team in Watford?

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join a nice, well-supported team where you’ll benefit from a manageable caseload, regular support and a positive working environment.

The Role:

You will work with children, young people and families, providing high-quality social work interventions and ensuring children’s needs, safety and well-being remain at the heart of your practice.

The Family Support Team works with children, young people and families who may be experiencing a range of challenges, with the aim of strengthening families, improving outcomes for children and preventing difficulties from escalating.

You’ll work directly with families to understand their circumstances, identify strengths and areas of need, and develop effective plans that help families make meaningful changes.

The role can involve working with families experiencing issues such as:

Parenting difficulties and family conflict
School attendance and engagement
Behavioural and emotional difficulties
Neglect and safeguarding concerns
Domestic abuse and its impact on children
Housing and financial difficulties
Children and young people at risk of entering care
Complex family circumstances requiring coordinated multi-agency support

You’ll work closely with parents, children and young people, as well as partner agencies including education, health, early help and other childrens services, ensuring families receive the right support at the right time.

What Herts are looking for:

Social Work England registered
Previous experience within children’s social care
Strong assessment and intervention skills
Excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Must meet current DfE agency social worker requirements
Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle
