People Advisor 12-month Fixed Term Contract (with possibility of permanent appointment) Salary to £37,000 per annum Macildowie are delighted to be supporting a not-for-profit organisation in Leicester with the appointment of an experienced People Advisor on a fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on People role offering the opportunity to make a genuine impact during an important period of organisational change.

The successful individual will provide practical HR support across the employee lifecycle, offer first-line advice to managers, support employee relations activity and help improve the way HR processes and services are delivered. Working closely with the HR Manager and wider People team, you will take ownership of key employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, induction, probation, employee changes and offboarding. You will also support managers with day-to-day people matters, provide guidance on HR policies and procedures, and use HR data and insight to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.

There is also significant scope to improve how HR operates. You will help strengthen processes, systems and guidance, improve the experience for managers and colleagues, and support the development of a more effective and consistent People service. The role will also provide day-to-day guidance and support to an HR Officer and contribute to wider People projects and change activity. Key responsibilities Own and coordinate key employee lifecycle processes, ensuring onboarding, induction, probation, employee changes and offboarding are delivered accurately and consistently.

Work closely with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure an effective handover from recruitment into employment. Provide practical first-line HR advice and support to managers across a range of people matters. Support routine employee relations matters including performance, attendance, conduct and probation. Coach managers on the application of HR policies, procedures and good people management practice. Identify recurring manager challenges and contribute to practical guidance, learning and development interventions.

Support manager forums, networks and learning opportunities designed to improve management confidence and capability. Produce regular HR reporting and management information, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for improvement. Use people data and operational insight to support workforce planning and management decision-making. Review and improve HR processes, systems, templates, guidance and self-service tools. Ensure HR activity remains compliant with employment legislation, organisational policy and governance requirements.

Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the HR Officer, helping to build confidence, consistency and capability. Work collaboratively across HR, Talent Acquisition and L&D to deliver an integrated People service. Contribute to wider People projects, organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives. About you You will be an experienced HR professional, ideally operating at HR Advisor, Senior HR Advisor, People Advisor or HR Generalist level, with a strong understanding of the employee lifecycle and confidence providing practical advice to managers.

You will have experience dealing with routine employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, absence and probation, alongside a good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
