The Opportunity:

H W Martin Fleet Maintenance Ltd are looking for a passionate, experienced and qualified Welder/Fabricator to join the team at Derwent Recycling Centre.

The Welder/ Fabricator will repair, maintain, and refurbish roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) skips to ensure they are safe, compliant, and ready for operational use. This role supports the smooth running of site operations by ensuring all containers are kept in good working condition.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect RoRo skips for damage, wear, and structural issues.
  • Carry out repairs including welding, cutting, grinding, and steel fabrication.
  • Replace or repair doors, hinges, locks, rollers, lids, and reinforcing sections.
  • Perform routine maintenance to extend the lifespan of containers.
  • Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Follow daily job sheets and complete repair logs.
  • Keep the workshop area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Operate tools and equipment safely, including welders, grinders, and forklifts (if trained).
  • Report of major faults or material shortages .
  • Support other workshop or yard duties when required.

Qualifications

  • Welding or fabrication certification (beneficial but not always essential).
  • Forklift licence (advantageous).
  • Full training can be provided depending on experience.
