Emergency Veterinary Technician / Assistant (Part‑Time)

Schedule:
Part‑time, flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays; open 365 days a year

GVETS provides emergency and urgent veterinary care 365 days a year, including nights, weekends, and all major holidays. What You’ll Do Emergency & Critical Care- Perform triage and initial assessments on incoming emergency cases
- Assist veterinarians with emergency examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
- Provide hands‑on nursing care for critical patients, including IV catheter placement, medication administration, and lab work
- Assist with anesthesia, diagnostic imaging, surgical procedures, and CPR/emergency resuscitation
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, pain levels, and response to therapy
- Place and maintain IV catheters, perform venipuncture, and collect lab samples
- Operate diagnostic equipment (radiology, ultrasound, laboratory analyzers)
- Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Perform CPR and emergency resuscitation when required
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding patient status and treatments
- Provide emotional support during emergencies and critical care situations
- Educate clients on discharge instructions, medication administration, and follow‑up care
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment, ICU, and surgical areas
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are stocked and in working order
- Adhere to hospital safety, sanitation, and infection‑control protocols
- Accurately document patient records, treatments, and progress notes
- Experienced Veterinary Assistants are welcome
- Licensed/Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT, RVT, LVT) preferred
- Previous experience in emergency or critical care strongly preferred
- Ability to thrive in a high‑energy, team‑oriented environment
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
- Willingness and desire to work part‑time nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong technical skills in emergency and critical care medicine are desirable
