Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Part-Time/Freelance) – Powder Metallurgy Alloying Location: Watsonville, Santa Cruz County, California Compensation: $20-$30/hour (negotiable based on experience)
Hours: 10-15 hours/week initially, with potential for growth

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team in Watsonville, CA, for Powder Metallurgy Alloying using a rotary ball mill. This is an entry‑level, part‑time role with training provided and the opportunity to grow into a career as production scales.

Responsibilities
  • Operate basic chemistry lab equipment and a rotary ball mill (training provided).
  • Conduct micro powder metal alloying to produce a specific alloy.
  • Keep detailed lab notes for process tracking and improvement.
  • Communicate with the equipment manufacturer for troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Report progress to the project team.
Requirements
  • Familiarity with basic lab equipment (e.g., beakers, scales, pipettes).
  • Willingness to learn and operate a rotary ball mill (no prior experience required).
  • Reliable transportation to Watsonville, CA.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication for team and manufacturer coordination.
  • Current undergraduate/graduate student in chemistry (or related field) or a freelancer with basic lab experience.
  • Must be willing to sign a non‑disclosure agreement (NDA) for confidentiality.
