Special Projects Composite Technician - Level 2 (Temporary)

We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Special Projects Composite Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for performing composite layup operations to manufacture high-quality composite parts. The ideal candidate should have at least two years of experience in pre-preg material placement on open face tooling, material orientation, and consolidation techniques. Additionally, proficiency in performing vacuum bagging and knowledge of curing operations are necessary for this role.
Responsibilities- Perform tooling prep operations in preparation for lamination.
- Prepare and organize composite materials in preparation for lamination.
- Apply composite materials onto molds or tooling surfaces using techniques like hand layup or automated processes.
- Ensure proper ply orientation, ply thickness, and material consolidation is achieved.
- Proficiency in vacuum bagging techniques for composite layup operations.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Basic use of computers for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
- Able to verbally communicate, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
- Reliability and punctuality.

- Ability to follow safe work practices.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in composite layup using composite prepreg materials.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools.
- Good hand-eye coordination.

- Ability to effectively work as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of basic hand tools.
- Ability to become certified to wear a respirator.
- Ability to maintain work area in a neat, orderly, and organized manner.
- No known allergies to epoxies or other composite materials.
- Ability to verbally communicate, read, and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
The target base pay for this position is $21-$24/hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
