Aviation Safety Officer

Our client is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Aviation Safety Officer to enhance safety management systems and promote a strong safety culture within their operations based in Paarl . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant aviation regulations and industry best practices. This role is crucial for identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and implementing mitigation strategies to prevent accidents and incidents.

The hybrid nature of this role allows for essential on-site operational engagement while incorporating remote analysis and reporting.

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization's Safety Management System (SMS).
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all operational areas.
• Investigate aviation safety incidents and occurrences, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Promote safety awareness and training programs for all personnel.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the organization remains compliant with all safety standards.
• Analyze safety data and trends to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Prepare regular safety reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.

• Relevant degree or certification in Aviation Safety, Aviation Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation safety management or a similar operational safety role.
• In-depth knowledge of ICAO, EASA, SACAA, or other relevant aviation safety regulations and standards.
• Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a hybrid environment.
