Senior Security Architect

Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Security Architect to bolster their cybersecurity defenses in Paarl, Western Cape . This crucial role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security architectures across all IT systems and platforms. You will be responsible for identifying threats, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, a proactive approach to risk management, and excellent leadership capabilities.

This role requires a hybrid presence in our secure Paarl, Western Cape facility, collaborating with a dedicated security team.

• Design and architect comprehensive security solutions to protect enterprise assets against cyber threats.
• Develop and implement security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Conduct security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.
• Evaluate and recommend security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection.
• Oversee the implementation and management of security controls across networks, applications, and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with IT operations and development teams to integrate security into the SDLC.
• Develop incident response plans and lead the technical response to security breaches.
• Stay abreast of emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
• Provide security architecture guidance and mentorship to IT staff.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in information security, with at least 4 years focused on security architecture.
• Proven experience designing and implementing security solutions for complex environments (on-premises, cloud, hybrid).
• Strong knowledge of network security, application security, cryptography, and identity and access management.
• Experience with cloud security best practices (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and threat modeling skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC) are highly desirable.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
