Manager, Pathology
Apply to GI Alliance in Park Ridge, IL. Salary range: $55,000–$65,000. This role is full‑time and mid‑senior level.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily laboratory operations.
- Oversee scheduling, recruitment, and payroll.
- Handle staff relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Develop departmental goals, standards, and objectives aligned with the strategic plan.
- Provide technical expertise and backup for all pathology laboratory duties.
- Develop, evaluate, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor laboratory safety, quality assessment, and improvement programs.
- Maintain good relationships with physicians, colleagues, and vendors to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve operational issues.
- Develop and monitor budgets.
- Other duties as assigned.
- AA in Science or equivalent.
- HT or HTL (ASCP).
- Three (3) years experience in a laboratory setting.
- Education and training sufficient to support CLIA 88 requirements for the position.
- Must be reliable.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with no supervision.
- Strong ability to compile data.
- Ability to follow instructions/procedures.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with customers and co‑workers.
- Strong ability to perform work activities in a team environment with open communication.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and concentrate for extended periods of time.
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment while under substantial time pressures and still maintain quality patient care.
- Proficient technical (computer) skills with knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements of the laboratory.
- Strong multi‑tasking ability in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong ability to adapt and implement change.
- Self‑motivated with initiative.
- Strong sense of ethics.
This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Laboratory equipment is used occasionally.
Work Environment:This job operates in professional laboratory environments. Frequent exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, moving/mechanical parts, sharp objects, blood or body fluids, communicable diseases, LED computer monitors, repetitive motions. Travel may be required.
Physical Requirements:- Required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Use of hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Constantly talk, hear and smell.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
