Technical Engineer

We are partnering with a leading enterprise organization seeking a Technical Engineer to support a large-scale cloud security and web application infrastructure initiative.

This opportunity offers the chance to work with cross-functional teams responsible for modernizing and securing web applications while supporting enterprise-wide technology transformations.

In this role, you will help implement and support Web Application Firewall (WAF) migrations, collaborate with application and infrastructure teams, automate configurations, assist with production cutovers, and provide post-implementation support.

Candidates with strong network security fundamentals, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams will thrive in this environment.

• Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
• Candidates local to Waukegan are strongly preferred
• Remote consideration may be available for exceptional candidates
• Monday through Friday, 32–40 hours per week
• Occasional weekend support required during production cutovers

The Technical Engineer will provide technical design, implementation, and operational support for enterprise web security initiatives.

This position partners with application owners, security teams, network engineers, architects, and infrastructure teams to develop and implement secure cloud-based solutions.

The role focuses on WAF migration activities, infrastructure automation, production cutovers, operational support, and continuous improvement of cloud security engineering practices.

• Design, implement, and support Web Application Firewall (WAF) migration activities.
• Develop technical solutions and implementation plans that align with business and security requirements.
• Partner with application owners and stakeholders to understand application architecture and deployment needs.
• Coordinate implementation schedules, production cutovers, and post-cutover hypercare support.
• Configure and support cloud security solutions and web application protections.
• Automate infrastructure and security configurations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
• Support troubleshooting, incident resolution, and escalated operational issues.
• Monitor project progress, communicate status updates, and

• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with application, security, network, and infrastructure teams.

• 1–3 years of IT experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
• Network engineering and/or network security background.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Knowledge of web security concepts and firewall technologies.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, equivalent certifications, or comparable work experience.
