Job Summary
To assist the Customer Accounting Supervisor. Manage and collect promptly outstanding accounts receivable balances while maintaining the goodwill of our customers. Evaluate held orders, and contact customers as needed to enable expeditious release of orders. Responsible for various accounts receivable functions which may require research and reconciliation.
MajorDuties and Responsibilities:
- Institute and maintain a deduction log that will formally track all customer deductions and the status of each deduction. Prepare monthly report to explain deduction findings. This will include interpreting and resolving accounts receivable problems associated with these deductions.
- Research all credit, debit memos and unapplied cash for accuracy including identification of unauthorized deductions. Upon approval adjustments should be entered via AS400 according to established procedures where applicable or to the TPMS for validation and creation of credit or adjustment.
- Provide current status of customer accounts, to include status of outstanding balances, repayments or other analytical reports as requested.
- Under the direction of the Customer Accounting Supervisor, upon authorized approval, enter all A/P check requests via AS400 or TPMS system according to established procedures.
- Under the direction of the Customer Accounting Supervisor, use written and telephone contact with customers to dispute invalid deductions, receive payment information on invalid short pays or requesting back up.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience;
Associate degree in business preferred - 2 years credit, collection and accounting experience
- Proficiency in Excel is highly desirable!
- Strong mathematical skills and working knowledge of relative software and mainframe capabilities.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- In-depth knowledge of standard accounts receivable procedures.
- Diplomatic skills needed to solve customer generated problems.
- Ability to deal with varied types of customers from mass merchandisers to smaller, local operations.
