This position will be responsible for the mechanical design of robotic automation systems.
Essential Functions:
Design robotic automation projects within defined time frame and budget allowance by performing the following duties.
- Mechanical design of robotic automation cells to include component design and budget analysis, cell layout, robot size calculations (reach/payload/moments/duty-cycle), critical component FEA, 3D simulations, creation of CAD drawing packages and ERP system entry.
- Evaluate and minimize risks that could affect the success of the project related to design and corresponding integration with the Project Execution Team.
- Work with Electrical Engineering and Integration to develop safe systems and controls to meet current customer requirements as well as industry standards.
- Read and interpret technical project quotations and develop working plans and scopes of work with the Project Execution Team relative to mechanical design.
- Responsibility for maintaining and adhering to budget commitments regarding costing for both hours and materials required to finish the project.
- Ability to adhere to an agreed upon design schedule that fits the customer and company’s desired outcome
- Evaluation and selection of appropriate vendors for fabricated and purchased components that best fit the project goals to include pricing, quality and delivery requirements.
- Assist with preparation of proposals and quotations to represent realistic expectations of the capabilities and the profitability goals of Acieta.
- Lead and present engineering designs along with the Project Execution Team during internal and external meetings related to project progress updates.
- Work closely with the Project Execution Team to execute the design as intended though use of created documentation, visual aids and simulations.
- Assist with preparation of proposals and quotations for future projects when directed.
- Provide guidance and support to other engineers and designers as requested.
- Carry out other tasks, duties and assignments as requested by the General Manager.

Education and/or Experience:

Education and/or
Experience:
- A.A.S. in Mechanical Design and 7+ years of automation experience or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency in Solidworks PDM (Solidworks “Associate” certification minimum requirement, Solidworks “Professional” certification preferred)
- 7 + years of experience in designing systems that utilize many different pieces of equipment (7+ years of robotics or automation design experience preferred)
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write clear and thorough correspondence, instructions, memos, and meeting notes.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to vendors, clients, and other employees of the organization including managers and executives.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete or vague variables in complex situations.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
- Ability to interpret drawing and BOM information.
- Excellent telephone, face-to-face communication, and writing skills.
- Have a commitment to time schedules, organization, and teamwork.
- Excellent computer and proofreading skills.
