Manufacturing Operations / Plant Manager
Position Summary
Supports the upkeep of our heat‑treating operations by managing the procurement and inventory of equipment parts and supplies. This role blends hands‑on involvement in the shop floor environment with strong organizational and purchasing skills, ensuring that maintenance teams have the right materials at the right time.
Core ResponsibilitiesPurchasing & Vendor Management
- Source, negotiate, and place orders for mechanical, electrical, and specialty heat treating parts.
- Maintain relationships with approved vendors and evaluate pricing, lead times, and quality.
- Load and unload trucks (including Fed Ex/UPS small parcels) and route materials internally using hand trucks, conveyors, or sorting bins.
- Process purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders, and track order status.
- Develop additional or alternate sources of supply for important materials. (secondary vendors)
Inventory Control & ERP Administration
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the company MES system.
- Maintain optimal stock levels for critical spare parts while reducing excess inventory.
- Perform regular cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and generate inventory reports.
- Set reorder points, safety stock levels, and manage part classifications.
Technical Support for Maintenance
- Translate maintenance technicians’ terminology into correct part numbers and specifications.
- Assist in identifying suitable replacements or alternatives for obsolete components.
- Participate in troubleshooting sessions when parts availability impacts equipment uptime.
Shop Floor Assistance
- Work alongside maintenance crews in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Retrieve, transport, and stage parts for scheduled repairs.
- Occasionally perform basic cleaning or minor “hands dirty” tasks to keep the work area organized.
Process Improvement (6S)
- Apply 6S principles to the purchasing, inventory, and repair workflow.
- Identify opportunities to streamline ordering processes, reduce waste, and improve part traceability.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits, cost tracking, and regulatory reporting.
Transportation
- Use a valid driver’s license to pick up urgent parts, deliver supplies, or conduct vendor visits as needed.

- This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be a lawful permanent resident or a protected individual. Employment of Foreign Persons will be contingent on receiving the DSP-5 license from the US State Department.
- Background Checks – Successful completion of a 9‑panel hair‑follicle drug test and a standard background check.
- Education – High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Certification – Forklift certification must be obtained and maintained.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience – Experience with an MES/ERP system (inventory, purchasing, or asset modules) – configuration, data entry, and reporting. Blue Streak experience preferred.
- May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in a non‑climate controlled industrial environment.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Capable of lifting and carrying at least 25 pounds throughout shift.
- Must be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- Must demonstrate the ability to perform fundamental mathematical skills.
